"På okänd väg" – en roman hjälpte författaren att hitta sin transidentitet
Pride House, Sat 7 Aug 4:00 PM–4:45 PM
On Stockholm Pride, the second edition of the polyamorous love novel "On an Unknown Path" will be released.
The author Johanna Jensen tells her unlikely story of how the novel showed her the way to identify as a trans woman. She describes how it is possible to live in the female role, even though she has decided to keep her male body.
When Johanna had written her bisexual polyamorous novel "On an Unknown Path", she did not dare to publish it under her own name. She came up with the idea of choosing a female pseudonym, Johanna Jensen, so that readers would perceive her love novel correctly. Then it happened: on social media, she was treated like a woman, and it felt so right and nice. Eventually, she decided to live as a woman even in everyday life, and five years ago, she changed her name into Johanna Masche-No officially.
The release of the novel's second edition is a good opportunity to tell both about the novel and Johanna's life as a transgender person. Unlike the stereotypical media image, she has decided early to continue living in her male body, even as a trans woman. She lacked role models but discovered that she had unknowingly portrayed one of her novel characters as her ideal, which could serve as her guide. Still, she feels that there is a norm about how trans people should be, and she wants to open more opportunities, so that everyone can find the way to be that suits them. Therefore, she tells how it is possible to live as a woman in a male body, what works well and what the limitations are. The lecture will mix seriousness with humor, and hopefully it can inspire and increase understanding.
