Asylrätten - politikerdebatt om framtidens migrationspolitik

Thousands of LGBTQI people flee to Europe every year to escape the persecution, torture or degrading treatment they are subject to in their countries of origin because of their actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity and/or gender expression. In June 2019, the Swedish government appointed a parliamentary composed committee to give its position on the development of the future Swedish migration policy. We discuss how the investigation’s suggestions will affect vulnerable groups, among others LGBTQI asylum seekers.

How does the temporary residence permit that the committee suggests affect LGBTQI people who seek asylum?
How are vulnerable groups affected by a limited right to family reunification and stricter demands on income and housing in family reunification? Will LGBTQI people be deprived of the right of family reunification if they can’t prove that they have been married or lived together in their country of origin because same-sex sexual relationships are criminalised?
