Community Healing & Resistance Workshop
Pride House, Fri 2 Aug 3:00 PM–3:45 PM
With discussion and creative practices, we will explore the connection among healing, resistance, and creativity in our queer and trans communities. Together we will strategise, share, and develop self-care and community healing tactics, tools, and resources. Special attention will be paid to the need for trauma processing for LGBTQ asylum seekers, and a new project being launched at RFSL Stockholm Newcomers will be introduced.
Dr. Winget recently received their Ph.D from Universities of California, Irvine and San Diego where they wrote their thesis, Performing Possibilities: Trans-Healing in Activist Performance. They are interested in utilising performance as a tool for healing, community building, and decolonising, and work particularly with queer and trans communities. They are working on book projects on queer and trans healing as well as queer and trans feminisms in performance. Dr. Winget is now Project Manager RFSL Stockholm to develop and implement programming that promotes mental health for Newcomers.
