Jämställd och hållbar blodgivning
Regnbågsblods panelsamtal Pride 2023

In Sweden, all men who have had sex with a man within the last 6 months are rejected from the blood centers.

Can we really afford to reject hundreds of thousands from donating blood when Swedish healthcare needs an average of one bag of blood per minute, around the clock, all year round? How is it possible that all sexual contact between men is still classified as risky behavior by the National Board of Health and Welfare? How harmful to society is the signal value of the regulation? What do the regulations look like in other countries?

Rainbow blood claims that we should screen potential blood donors based on actual risk instead of gender or sexual orientation. Wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone who wants to and can donate blood safely would be allowed to do so?
